I got a bouquet of flowers with cherry blossom branches in it. Is there any way to keep it alive?

I got it last Friday, and it is just the stems of the cherry blossom tree with small blooms on it, but it is already dying :( I just have them in a vase right now trying to keep them alive, is there anyway to keep them from dying, I really love them! I live in Florida, and the weather isn't too harsh right now, about 60-70.

Remove the branch from the vase and put it into a new vase with plain water. Cover the vase with a sheet of foil, to make it dark. If you are lucky, the branch will shoot new leaves and eventually roots will come out. Make sure to keep the water clean. Rooting hormone definitely helps, but not necessary.

Your original vase water most likely contains flower food, which eventually becomes cloudy because bacteria start to grow. Bacteria will clog the stem and kills the branch (and other flowers).
Reply:Keep them in a cool spot and out of direct sunlight. The branch is a living thing and all living things die but keeping it in water and in a cool spot will prolong its life. Good luck
Reply:If you're trying to get the branches to root you could purchase some rooting hormone powder, be sure to knock any extra off, place it in a pot of vermiculite with a plastic bag over top and keep out of direct sun. Be sure to water regular. You should have roots in maybe 4 to 6 weeks but because the stems aren't fresh cut you're chances of them rooting are a bit lower.

Good Luck!
