I am getting married in September in Michigan and would like to get ideas for bouquet flowers.?

Colors are burgandy and ivory. Ideally I'd like to use flowers that are in season and inexpensive.

Most flower shops have red and white roses year round, you can get them in a variety of sizes.

Dahlias are beautiful and bloom later, I've seen them at farmer's markets in the late summer; they come in really rich colors so I'm sure you could find a deep red and white.

Also, hydrangeas are big, cheap, and plentiful, and come in white, they might be ideal for a loose bridesmaid's posey with a few other blooms (daisies, lillies, spray roses). Gerbers/ daisies are usually pretty cheap but I don't know if they'll be in season then. They come in white and red, though sometimes the red can be a little bright/ orangey. You could also use zinnas or mums, which are in season then.

Lillies and calla lillies are supposed to be a fall flower as well. Callas come in a beautiful burgundy shade, but they are always expensive. However, you could use just a few in your bouquet as an accent.

My colors were red and ivory, and instead of mixing the two colors in the bouquets, I had the bridesmaids carry all white/ivory bouquets (white flowers are never stark white), and I had an all red one with a variety of flowers, different shades of red, and several textures. I liked how it turned out. I was lucky enough to have a family friend who worked at a flower shop do all the flowers- she got most of them from friends' gardens, so it was pretty cheap. Some shops might give you a discount or if you search around, you might be able to find them wholesale. I've heard Sam's Club orders flowers for cheap as well. You could save a lot by making them yourself. I've made a few bouquets before and it's not too hard, depending on how complicated you want it.

Here are some pictures of my bouquets and other burgundy ones that look cool:

Reply:You have alot of choices, but keep in mind that any fresh flower is going to be somewhat pricey. You do always have the option of making your own bouquets with silk flowers from a craft store... if you want fresh...

You could do an assortment of roses. During that time there's deep red roses, ivory, yellow, and there's even a pinky orange one (I think it's called sorbet) that's available. I knew a bride who did this and she had chocolate brown dresses, but it looked really gorgeous.

Here are some other ideas:

HYDRANGEAS (Hydrangea quercifolia) - The late blooming Oak Leaf Hydrangea gets its name from the shape of its large leaves. These beautiful leaves often turn colors of brilliant yellow, orange, red, and burgundy.

SUNFLOWERS (Helianthus annuus) - When you think of autumn, picture the Sunrise Sunflower. The medium short deep double yellow petals and dark center make an excellent choice for use as cut flowers that have a long vase and arrangement life.

DAISIES (Gerbera) - There are a number of varieties from a single petal to a double petal. The bright colors and varying sizes of this flower make for beautiful bouquets and eye-catching arrangements.

ROSES (Rosa) - Many people tend to think of roses as either traditional red or delicate pink. However, the colors of roses range from gold to chocolate. Brides may want to consider the radiant rose colors that include golden apricot, tomato-red, deep yellow, red-orange, tangerine, dark burgundy, coral-orange, burnt- orange, or chocolate brown. These striking shades make beautiful wedding bouquets, floral decorations, and arrangements.

If you're looking to save money on flowers - try finding a local florist who will sell you flowers at wholesale prices and then make your own arrangements. Or make one large flower the focal point of your bouquets and then use greenery and cheaper filler flowers to finish it off.

Some florists are also willing to use both real and artificial flowers. This way you safe a bundle and there's alot of flowers out there that look amazing as artificial and actually last longer throughout your day!! Good Luck!
Reply:I am also getting married in Sept. in Michigan. My colors are burnt orange, dark brown and deep red. My mother and I just went to Michaels in Saginaw and got flowers for the bouquets. I have no idea what they are called, but they are a dark orange color. They had a lot of flowers to choose from. I am going with silk flowers b/c I do not want to risk them dying. (my best friend had that happen and it was a disaster!) They will also keep their beauty forever this way.

My bouquet will be mostly white with dark red and dark orange roses. I have yet to get those flowers.
Reply:I am getting married in August of 09. The colors we are going with is burgundy and white.

Not for sure if this is in season or not...but I really love calla lilies and here is some of the bouquets that I have been looking at. Haven't decided on how I want my bouquet yet. Still searching for the right photo!

Reply:Here are some pics of bouquets. If you like any of them, take them to your florist. Let her know what your budget is and then ask if she can create a similar design in your range.

OR silks are always an option. Now, they are often just as beautiful. :)

Hope this helps! I love finding bouquets!
