Can I (the bride) and my bridesmaids carry something other than a bouquet down the aisle?

If so, what would be appropriate?

Can I (the bride) and my bridesmaids carry something other than a bouquet down the aisle?
I've seen bibles, wrist corsages, a single flower (which i don't consider a bouquet), matching evening bags, and in one very odd wedding rhinestoned leashes with the couples' show dogs (they had 6 Chinese crested which are one of the UGLIEST dogs ever). so i say anything goes.
Reply:i had a beautiful garland made for my maid of honor with greenery and white flowers - and she wore it like a boa. it was a HIT.
Reply:Of course! I've seen willow wreaths, decorated, and it looks beautiful. You could have fans, parasols, a flower ball, or sometimes a bride carries a bible.
Reply:A single long stemmed rose would be nice. The rosary's for a church wedding sound good. Or maybe some little momentos from ou and you Hubby?

On a lighter side, they can carry small fake guns...shotgun wedding???? Not in a church of course...LOL
Reply:I just asked this question not long ago. Someone recommended carrying a Bible or a personal momento. One gal gave me a link to a crystal bouquet that she used--very cool.

Reply:Everyone can carry nearly anything you can think of... a purse with decoration, lead a pet, a bell, ornaments, whatever that pertains to your theme/colors.
Reply:Lace fans are pretty
Reply:My sister is getting married and we're going to be carrying peacock feathers down the aisle!
Reply:It depends alot on when your wedding is going to be...

Is it a Summer wedding on the beach? How about a nice Parasol to block the hot sun:

A Basket of flowers are always nice and can serve as your table centerpiece too:

Reply:gosh yes! what about a bible? you can purchase some beautiful books now-a-days.

or a rosary? or a candle? or a beautiful lace fan? or a basket with petals in it? or one perfect rose? or a small beaded clutch? [purse]

or nothing? we saw this in one wedding and it worked!
Reply:Sure, are you thinking of anything in particular (also, people with allergies will thank you)...I've seen winter weddings where the bride had a beautiful spray of holly tied in gold ribbons; it was gorgeous, cost effective, and unique. Also, I've seen it done where the bridesmaids carried smaller candles and placed them in a candelabra at the altar, and the bride carried a larger candle on a crystal tray (similar to an elevated cake tray for display) to place as a centerpiece on the table at the altar.

Also, if you're looking for a unique boutineer for the groom check this out: http://weddings.theknot.com/odb/themes/r...
Reply:fans, parasols, purses, bead bouquets, lanterns, candles in holders, Hawaiian leis, corsages, single flowers, Bibles or rosary beads, feather bouquets, artificial flowers, nothing
Reply:if the wedding is a catholic one, you could give them each a crystal Rosary as a gift and have them carry that down the ilse with a smal white napkin, or bible.
Reply:It's your wedding you can carry anything you want!
Reply:It's your wedding you can carry a monkey in a red hat down the isle if you want.
Reply:You can carry whatever you like... What sort of wedding are you having???

If it is a themed wedding then you should carry something that ties in with the wedding!!!
Reply:jars of butterflies...some ppl even release butterflies after exiting the church instead of throwing rice/rose petals.
Reply:It is your wedding you can carry what ever you would like! Think of something that goes along with the theme of your wedding.

I am getting married Oct. 20, 2007 I am carrying flowers but the bridesmaids are carrying mini pumpkins with the top hollowed and a battery operated candle.

I went to a wedding last fall that was outside in a barn and the bridesmaids carried little oil lamps.

Hope I gave you a few ideas, good luck and best wishes!
