Are you suppose to go up to caught the bouquet if your engaged?

This is happend twice in my family and both times people made comments. Are you suppose to go up to caught the bouquet if your engaged? I am asking because my friend is getting married before me and she made the comment jokingly that I have to caught hers.. cause I'll be the next married. But I didn't know if I was techincally suppose to? Yes, I know it's not the biggest deal in the world but I didn't want take away from any single girls if I actually caught it and I didn't want to disappoint my friend by not trying.

Are you suppose to go up to caught the bouquet if your engaged?
I'm not sure what the proper etiquette is, people can be so fickle and picky that it would be impossible to NOT have someone complaining about somehting at a wedding.

To spare the drama: Go up and try and be into the whole act, but dont actually catch the bouqet yourself.
Reply:go for it you fine only if your married its not ok for you to up but your only engaged so go for it good luck.
Reply:I hear you, my best friend from work is getting married two monthes before mine and im still going to try to catch the bouqet!
Reply:You bet! It's ALL single girls - engaged, otherwise, and even the 80 year olds! It's just fun...
Reply:Go to the bathroom when it comes time to toss the bouquet!! LOL...just kidding...I believe (and have followed myself) that all unmarried people, which includes engaged people, go to the dance floor at that time. Hey..if you want, stand in the back and don't attempt to catch it
Reply:Does it really matter? If you want to try to catch it, go for it. If not, don't. It's just a silly tradition, it doesn't really mean you'll be the next to get married.
Reply:No, because you don't need to catch it. You ARE getting married. Please, give those unengaged gals a shred of hope to hang onto! :-) And don't let your fiance catch any garters, either! (At some weddings the garter catcher has to put the garter on the leg of the bouquet catcher, and you don't want him sliding it up some stranger's leg, do you?)
Reply:You are betrothed. I wouldn't do it.
Reply:NO! Engaged ladies already ARE goign to get married next, so the SINGLE (and nto engaged) ladies are supposed to catch it to see who is goign to get married next (or engaged next actually). The engaged girls kind of count as already taken you know...Also, the guy who catches the garter is supposed to dance w/ the bouquet catcher adn it migh tbe awkward if some engaged chick is dancing with a single guy then...I woudln't care, but some might talk...
Reply:I wouldn't do it. However, step up in front of the other spectators, and see if the bride signals or calls for you to join in. If she does, then yes, go up, otherwise let the single ladies participate.
Reply:I would:

1) Avoid it, and not go up. (Maybe hide in the bathroom or go to the bar and get a drink.)

2) If you do get forced up just don't catch it.
Reply:I've been told any lady who was unmarried (including engaged women) had to go up.
Reply:Since she made a comment (joking or not) then go ahead and get up there. Maybe stand in the back or off to a side so you aren't in the middle of the mess after it's thrown. Just step back and let the single girls fight it out. :-)
Reply:WELL I BELIEVE THAT ANY UNMARRIED WOMEN SO ENGAGED IS STILL UNMARRIED SO IT'S COOL.
Reply:Actually you have more reason than anyone to get up there. The tradition symbolizes passing the torch to the next girl in the "Village" family and friends whose gonna get married. Whoever catches it is just to be unmarried. Its not like your getting up there to get all the attention of the guys in the room. And anyone to tell you diff, well frankly their wrong. But if you don't feel comfortable, no biggie dont do it. Its all about fun, and tradition.
Reply:I believe that it is ok to catch the bouquet even though you're engaged to be married. I did that when I was engaged!!!!

So don't let anyone tell you , you can't. Have a good time, and congratulations on getting engaged.
