What greenery would go best with ivory rose dome bouquet?

I am making my own bouquets for my wedding, so I am going with the very easy-to-make dome shape. Here's an example: http://www.theknot.com/ch_article.html?O... The problem is this type takes A LOT of roses, which equals a lot of money. What would be a nice greenery that I could use that would be easy to use and make the bouquet less expensive?

What greenery would go best with ivory rose dome bouquet?
While this type of bouquet does require a great deal of flowers - there are wholesalers who sell to those without business licenses. You can go to www.growersbox.com or do a search for wholesale roses on Yahoo. If you really want to add greenery, then ivy goes really well with roses.
Reply:Ivy works the best with roses.
Reply:I beg to differ, greenery would be nice. I had an all rose and greenery dome shaped bouquet for my wedding back in march. the greenery I used was called verigated pittsporium. It's actually a bush, but is very hardy and as long as you keep it refrigerated, you don't have to worry about it being in water constantly, so its perfect for this type thing. I'll put a link to the pic of the plant in the source box...Its green but has touches of ivory running throughout the leaves, it would be perfect with your ivory roses.

I worked at a florist for serveral years and it was so easy to add this stuff. you simply snip a small stem of it, tape it directly to the top of the rose stem (I would wire the stem first) do this to all your roses, and then assymble the bouquet, starting with 2 or 3 in the middle tape that together, then work your way out with the pre-greened roses. if you want, you can tape extra greenery around the base of the roses when done to create a collar effect.

The key with those is to not try to add 15 roses at once, postition 3-4 where you like and tape just those, filling in any holes as you go, it will make it a lot easier to make adjustments! They are pretty easy to make tho, I had made bridal bouquets like that when I had only been working there 3 months!

If you want to see a pic of how mine turned out, feel free to go look at my myspace, my profile pic has me holding my bouquet in a way where you can see the roses and greenery together. Mine were hot pink, but you can get an idea. Also, their were like 26 roses in my bouquet, so that business your site says about up to 60 roses is crazy, it would be huge and HEAVY! 30 w/o greenery was always plenty for a bridal bouquet, and bridesmaids ussually had a dozen with or w/o greenery!
Reply:I would have to agree. Greenery won't really fit into that bouquet. I am making my own also (it's similar), I have practiced and gotten good results using about 16 roses, I also threw in a couple orchids and calla lilies. It's not that big, but still looks nice.
Reply:Here's the best thing to do...(I made this for my sister.)

You'll need about 2 dozen roses, 2 bunches of astromelius or banana leaf if you just want all roses, floral tape, corsage pins, ribbon, rubberbands.

I got about 2 dozen roses at walmart already trimmed %26amp; cleaned for about $17. At walmart, you can also get floral tape, very useful. Instead of greenery, you can use small astromelius, (they come in a creamy white among other colors) which look like baby tiger lilys. One stem has about 5 smaller stems/flower with long thin leaves that stick up. One bunch of astromelius cost about $4 at walmart.

Gather about 6 roses in a bunch %26amp; rubber band them at the stems %26amp; wrap floral tape in the center of the stems.

Keep the stems as long as you can so that you can keep your bouquet in water before you add the ribbon. I left about an extra 2inches from where my ribbon was going to end.

Now add about 3-4 stems of astromelius all around the roses. they will peek up along with their leaves. Add the rest of your roses to fill the bouquet %26amp; finish with with the rest of your astromelius positioning the flowers to peek through in between the roses.

Rubber band %26amp; finish by wrapping the floral tape all the way around from where you want your ribbon to start %26amp; end. Keep in a vase until you're ready to add your ribbon %26amp; cut the ends.

I bought wide ribbon %26amp; corsage (pearl) pins and added the pins strategically to keep it all together. You can get all these things at your local wal-mart without it going over $40 and have a gorgeous, full bouquet. Good Luck!
Reply:I would mix in with the roses baby's breath, stephonitis, and a small varigated green ivy leaf. This will make the bouquet less expensive for you. But it will cost just the same, but it is your wedding day and you want it to be right.
Reply:Honestly a bouquet like that doesn't leave too much room for greenery. However to save some money you might consider adding some babys breath or a few carnations in there as well. That will cut the cost.

Originally I though ivory and ferns but I dont think you would be able to get it as tight as you need it to tie it all together with ferns. Consider all the grasses though. What color are your bridesmaid dresses? They have tons of grasses--I used bear grass in mine but there are many blue and red grasses as well.
